Lloyd G. Cox, 84 years, of Temperance, MI passed away on Thursday February 15, 2024 in Trinity Health Care Systems -Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti, MI. An engineer for 36 years, he had worked for Ford Motor Company and General Motors.
The son of Fred E. and Mildred P. (Himes) Cox, he was born September 29, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated with a BME Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institution, Flint, MI.
Lloyd was loving and generous father. He enjoyed playing cards, golf, running and basketball. He loved analyzing numbers and followed the stock market and keeping running and daily activity journals most of his life. In his late 30’s he discovered running road races and it became a passion of his for the rest of his life. He often won awards and ran races from 5k to Marathons. His proudest accomplishment was running The Boston Marathon. He ran a very fast 3:15 Marathon at age 59.
He is survived by his children, Tracy (Gambrell) Cox, Kevin A. Cox, Cary F. Cox, Steven D. Cox, Darren T. Cox; grandchildren, Sharene Gambrell, Cameron Cox; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Helena; ex-wife, Mary Ellen (Healy) Carleski; and special lifelong friends, Paul Daniel and Doug Kurtis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be visitation on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m.
