Dr. Marsha (Clegg) Sebetto left this earth with family and friends surrounding her bedside on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice Sylvania, OH. The daughter of Ralph and Gloria (Van Doren) Clegg she was born on May 13, 1948 in Toledo, OH. Her busy and remarkable life left behind many friends with whom she adored and they adored her. She was always kind and generous to family, friends, patients, and complete strangers.
Marsha was a graduate of Bedford High School and recently found out from a prior classmate that she and he were the only two Kindergartners in Mrs. Burkebiles class that could tie their shoes with their eyes closed. She attributed that accomplishment to her Father, a Marine Corp hero, for also helping her to memorize the Gettysburg address among some biblical text and raising her on a forty acre farm through hard work and respect for nature, animals, and all the crops he grew. The Clegg family tree is traced back to the Mayflower and John Alden. The American Indian heritage is traced through the Van Doren side of the family.
During her lifetime Marsha invented many useful items, loved gardening, and adored all animals. Her past employment included: working as a postal clerk in Dearborn, Michigan, part of the opening management for the first disco in Toledo called Dimples, she opened the 1st Maid service in the tri-county area cleaning yacht clubs, Doctors and real estate offices, new construction, and residential homes, drove school bus for Bedford schools and won third place in the school bus rodeo. She would often laugh that was the only trophy she ever had in her life. She later achieved her associates degree in Science at Monroe Community College and was Co-registered during the same time at Lourdes College…achieving both her associates in science and her bachelors in a nursing degree in three and a half years. Several years later she attended University of Health Science Antigua where she achieved her Medical Degree. During her time there she attended an intensive research project “Heat shock protein” in cancer research at the University of Boston and was the Vice President of the American Medical Students Association. She was also awarded “the Best Overall Performance in the Basic Sciences” at her graduation ceremony. More work included St. Vincents NICU, Advanced Specialty Hospital, Richard Medical Academy as the Program Coordinator through the Ohio Department of Health Nursing Assistant training program, and also taught Anatomy and Physiology and medical math to the Nursing students, Communicare, and Ayden healthcare.
Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Sebetto, parents; daughter, Lori Fillinger; brothers, Barry Clegg and Robert Clegg. Left on earth to mourn her passing are siblings, Patricia (Jeff) Schuster, David Clegg, Gregory (Cheryl) Clegg, Ronald Clegg, Susan Young, and Thomas Clegg. Marsha was also blessed with four wonderful grandchildren from her daughter, Lori and three great-grandchildren. She also has many awesome nieces and nephews and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where a celebration of life service will be at 4:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
