Martha Ann Plaskiewicz, 86 years, of Temperance, MI passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026 in Aspen Grove Assisted Living in Lambertville, MI. The daughter of Adam and Rose (Gregorzewski) Janiszewski, she was born November 1, 1939 in Toledo, OH.
Martha was an amazing homemaker and devoted herself to caring for her family before returning to the workforce in 1980. She began her career with the IRS and later worked as a librarian at Smith Road Elementary School, where she remained until her retirement in 2001. Martha was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She found great joy in making homemade pierogies, gardening, boating, and spending time at her beloved cottage on Carpenter Lake. She was proud of her Polish heritage and found special joy in carrying on Polish traditions with her family, creating memories that will continue to be treasured for generations. Above all, Martha cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly the rock of her family, the one who held everything together and was always there when someone needed her. She was compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply devoted to those she loved, especially caring for her son, Jimmy. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or other special date, always making sure her family knew they were remembered and loved. Her caring heart, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
She is survived by her loving son, James W. Plaskiewicz Jr.; daughters, Pamela A. (Mike) McPeek and Susan M. Bennett; grandchildren, Heather (Jon) Metzger, Michael (Cassie) McPeek Jr., Ashlee (Michael) Wilson, and EJ Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Waylon Metzger, Josie Metzger, and Sunny McPeek.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Plaskiewicz Sr., on September 27, 2025, after they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Ave., Temperance, where visiting will begin after 10:00 a.m. in the narthex. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, OH.
