Martha Hoover died on April 23rd in Monroe, Michigan at the age of 97. She was born in Petersburg, Pennsylvania and moved to Detroit after World War II to set up housekeeping. She graduated from Business School and was an executive secretary before becoming a full time housewife. She took great pride in providing a loving home to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Chesman (John) of Monroe and Leslie Hoover (Mark Wyckoff) of Lansing; grand-children, Jennifer Larkins of Monroe, Jonathan Chesman (Eun Yeoung) of Fort Huachuca, AZ, Jeremy Chesman (Roberto Canales) of Springfield, MO, Casady Wyckoff of Ferndale, MI and Hallie Wyckoff of Chicago, IL; and great-grandson, Jacob Smithers of Monroe. Martha was always active in her church, loved to play cards and enjoyed visiting with friends. She will be remembered as a kind, polite and loving lady who was very appreciative of everything and one who cared for others.
The funeral service will be at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Temperance, MI, on Tuesday, April 28th, at 10:30 A.M. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
