Martin H. Krueger, known as “Marty,” passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born on June 6, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio, Marty was the son of Harold and Norma (Knippen) Krueger. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1971 and spent most of his life in the Petersburg and Lambertville, Michigan area. There, he built not only a respected career but also many meaningful and lasting friendships that enriched his life.
A master plumber by trade, Marty was a proud member of Local 671 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for more than 43 years. As the owner of Krueger Plumbing Company, he helped build countless homes in the Lambertville area for Decker Building Company, taking great pride in every job he completed. His dedication, honesty, and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of everyone he worked with.
Outside of his work, Marty found joy in community and camaraderie. He was a longtime member of the Dundee Sportsman’s Club, where he volunteered at euchre tournaments and enjoyed spending time with friends, sharing laughter and good company. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, finding happiness in hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he was an accomplished golfer and a standout baseball player in high school.
One of the greatest adventures of his life—second only to marrying Dawn—was a wilderness hunting and fishing trip to the Ogoki Frontier in Canada with his friend, Dennis Kohler. Living off the land, they cooked what they caught and returned home with unforgettable memories and a treasured set of moose antlers.
At the heart of Marty’s life was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Dawn; his daughter, Amy; his stepsons, Nathaniel Craig and Nicholas Craig; sister, Diana and his five beloved grandsons, who brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Norma Krueger; his pet kids, Sparky, Toby, Sammy, and Ruby; his cats, Gracie, Screamer and Possum; and his dear friend, Mike “Ronnie” D’Arcangelo.
Marty will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor. He had a special way of making people feel at ease, often bringing laughter to any room he entered. Even in his final days, he continued to share smiles and light with those around him.
In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held. His remains will be scattered on his beloved Sugar Island in Northern Michigan, a place that brought him peace and happiness.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio; Brittany, his home health nurse; Maria, Sara, and especially Kathy; and the nurse assistants at the Ebeid Center for their kindness, compassion, and care during his final days.
Marty’s legacy endures most profoundly in the love he gave and the family he cherished above all else. Through his wife, children, and grandsons, his spirit, values, and laughter will continue to live on, carried forward in their memories and in the stories they share. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
