Michael John McGlynn, 83 years, formerly of Harbor Beach, MI passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 in his Temperance, MI home surrounded by family. He was under the care of Hospice of NW Ohio.
He was a beloved Football and Girl’s Softball coachspanning from 1972 through 2014 for St. Mary Magdalen School, Melvindale, Gabriel Richard High School, Riverview, Riverview High School, Melvindale High School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Southgate, and Thurston High School, Redford. He was employed by Great Lakes Steel in the Plant Protection Department and upon retirement he worked as a Security Officer at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, MI.
Born December 26, 1939 in Detroit, MI to John McGlynn and Roberta “Gloria” Crullo, he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Isabella (Roy) Crullo. Later in life he embraced his step parents, Franklin and Elanor Johnson.
Michael graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1958, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy until 1960.
On April 10, 1965, he married his wife of 58 years Carol Ann Skonieczny at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Melvindale, MI. Michael enjoyed, football, Detroit Tiger Baseball, golf, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Colleen (Shane) Evans of OK, Christopher (Tina) McGlynn of Lincoln Park, Alyssa McGlynn of Walled Lake; He had 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Harriett) Hoey, Denise (Richard) Gardner, Loree (Steve) Bush, Kathleen “Kay” (Ray) Harding, Barry (Judy) Johnson, Eugene Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and grandparents he was preceded in death by siblings, Dennis Hoey, and Eugene Johnson
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance where visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. in the narthex. Burial in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown Twp., MI will be private.
In Lieu of flower the family prefers donations to the American Heart Assoc., American Diabetes Assoc., or Monroe County Humane Society.
