Nancy Lou Boggess, 82 years, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her family on January 22, 2022 at Promedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Nancy was born on August 22, 1939 in Monroe, Michigan to Earl and Luella Blohm.
Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Monroe High School. In the early 1970s she met Edward Boggess at a dance for Parents without Partners. They married in 1974 and began their busy life with a blended family of 7 children. Nancy sold Avon for 40 years and also enjoyed tending to the flowers and plants around her home and generously shared many cuttings and bulbs with her family. She loved her home in the country where she could enjoy the quiet surroundings and watch the wildlife — deer, foxes and squirrels — journeying through her backyard. She took pleasure in watching the butterflies flitting around her blooms in the spring and summer, often finding caterpillars and raising and releasing monarch butterflies after they hatched. In the cooler months, she would keep the bird feeders full to be able to watch and identify the many birds that would gather at her feeders, relishing each time she spotted a new species. Nancy was also a lifetime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Toledo, Ohio.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 47 years, Edward; children, Susan James (Newport, MI), David Carr (Toledo, OH) and Rhonda Holey (Ida, MI); stepdaughters, Cheryle Stump (Golden, CO), Linda (Tom) Witfoth (Toledo, OH), Lorraine (Carl) Eklund (Central Lake, MI), and Gayle (Stan) Moore (Central Lake, MI) and brother Donald (Faye) Blohm (Monroe, MI). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry, sons-in-law Chris James and Don Stump, grandson Shane Holey, and great-grandson Alex Holey.
She will be remembered and missed by 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday January 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. where a service of remembrance will be Friday January 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
