Patricia Lenore Watkins

Patricia Lenore (Mallory) Watkins, 84 years, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 in The Toledo Hospital. The daughter of Maurice and Mary (Allen) Mallory she was born on September 12, 1938 in Toledo, OH.

Gifted with a keen mind and a lifelong dedication to being of service to those in need, Patricia graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSN in Nursing in 1960, going on to work as a nurse at The Toledo Hospital, where she served as a Pediatric Head Nurse and Psychiatric Team Leader. From 1980 until her retirement, Patricia served the Bedford Public School District as a paraprofessional, tutoring and supplying teaching support to students in need.

All of her life, Patricia sought knowledge. After attaining her nursing degree, she continued pursuing a wide range of college courses for the simple love of learning. She was a voracious reader, who loved the written word and who passed that love of reading down to her own children and the students she mentored.

Patricia was the rock her family and friends relied upon for her insight, counsel, unflagging willingness to help in times of need and to encourage in times of opportunity. She filled her home with books, artwork and decorations—each of them reflecting an aspect of her voluminous interests, her belief in the potential of people, and her love of the warm comfort of Home.

Patricia is survived by her children, Jessica (Larry) Young andJonathan (Carrie) Watkins; grandchildren, Amanda Huff, Ashley Huff, Jayme Hubbard, Kaleb Hubbard, William Watkins and Erik Watkins; great-grandson, Joel Hubbard; sister-in-law, Janet Mallory, her niece Emily Piechowski and her lifelong friend, Roxanna Wietrzykowski as well as numerous other friends and relatives.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents,Maurice and Mary Mallory; sister, Karen Piechowski; brother,Jonathan and grandson, Cori Hubbard.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering in Patricia’s honor Sunday July 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave.Temperance, MI. (734) 847-3841.
