Robert "Bob" G. Garverick

Robert Gale Garverick, age 77, of Luna Pier, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in Merit House, Toledo, OH. Robert was born in Toledo on October 9, 1945 to Gale and Mary (Fratilla) Garverick of Lambertville, MI. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1963 and attended Monroe Community College. Robert worked at JC Penney in East Toledo for several years until serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968, working in an evacuation hospital in Germany. Upon his return, he continued working at JC Penney until an opportunity came up to purchase the Chateau Louise Restaurant in Luna Pier in 1977. He owned and operated this very popular restaurant for 41 years. Bob made many friends throughout the years at the restaurant, and many were long-standing customers who frequented quite often. Many of his staff were also long term as he operated it more as a family run business. He was well known in the Luna Pier community as a fair businessman, friend, and someone who was always willing to lend help and support.

Robert is survived by his siblings, Carol (Mark) Rule, Janet (Phil) Davis, Thomas (Sandy) Garverick, Jeffery (Sharon) Garverick; nephews, Michael (Kelli) Rule, Kevin (Katie) Garverick; nieces, Michelle Kozlowski, Stephanie (Jerry) Bell, Nicole Garverick, Rachel (Josh) Bates, Amanda (Kevin) Thomas, Jenna Garverick, as well as many cousins and great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Garverick.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Lambertville Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Lambertville VFW Post #9656.
