Robert Herman Kerste, 81 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Hickory Ridge of Temperance. The son of Theodore and Marjorie (Schmitt) Kerste, he was born on December 12, 1935 in Toledo, OH.
Robert retired from GM Powertrain after 30 years of service. He was in the National Guard for 6 years and a member of Mt. Carmel Church for over 50 years. His passion was boating, camping and canoeing. In the Irish Hills he was known as “”Canoe Bob””.
He is survived by his brothers, Ken and Theodore Kerste and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt.
