Robert Patrick Wernert, 88 years, of Temperance, MI passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Hampton Manor of Bedford surrounded by his loving family under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. The son of Lawrence and Mary (Wilkinson) Wernert born on December 15, 1934 in Riga, MI.
Robert married the love of his life, Dianne Ruth Richardson on August 11, 1956 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Temperance, MI. He worked swing shift for 36 years at Libbey Owens Ford in Rossford, OH as a line foreman. Robert enjoyed watching Detroit Tiger Baseball and University of Michigan Football. He also enjoyed having a cold beer, ice cream and Rudy’s Hot Dogs.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dianne; children, Sheri (Jeff) Lyczkowski, Mike (Cindy) Wernert, Gayle Grove, Connie (Larry) Butler and Scott (Lisa) Wernert; grandchildren, Melissa (Brad Helm) Brown, Valarie (Jeff) Griffis, Steve (Katelyn) Lyczkowski, David (Pam) Wernert, Sam Wernert, Andy (Kim) Grove, Chad Butler, Andrea (Don) Stubleski, Matthew (Joyce) Butler, Steve Ragan, Meghan Wernert and Robert (Christy) Wernert; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Sulier, Janet Perry and Sharon Kinder. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, James Wernert; great-grandson, Jeremiah Griffis; siblings, Leon Wernert, Eugene Wernert, Phil Wernert, Rita Trabbic and Marilyn Slee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI. where a scripture service will be at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2023 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 8330 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI. at 11:00 a.m. where visiting will begin in the narthex after 10:00 a.m. Burial of ashes for immediate family will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Lambertville VFW Post 9656.
