Stephen E. Lane, Jr., also known as Steve, Freight Train-Wrecking Crane Lane, Virgil Ward, Junior, Stevie, or Axel, age 51, of Temperance, MI was found at his home in eternal peace on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Steve was born March 6, 1965, the son of Steve and Barb Lane, adoring and proud parent with Penny (Duvall) Lane to beautiful daughters, Patience (Paige) and Hunter Lane and recent grandfather to Ayvah Lane Lewis.
Steve had been employed by Michigan Tube Swagers in Temperance for nearly 30 years and had served for several years on the Luna Pier Volunteer Fire Department. Known for his sense of humor, crazy antics, and his love for the music of Guns N’ Roses and other 70’s/80’s rock music, he was passionate about cooking, the outdoors and outdoor activities, especially fishing, hunting, and spending time at the family cabin in northern Michigan. He was skilled in woodworking, carpentry, and was able to make just about anything.
Steve was preceded in death by grandparents, Stephen and Genevieve Lane; Betty (Keane) Smith; and mother, Barb (Keane) Lane. He is survived by his daughters and granddaughter; father, Steve Lane; sister, Tammy (Lane) Velich; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 6960 Sylvania-Petersburg Road, Ottawa Lake, MI. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Steve’s name either to Father’s House, P.O. Box 129, Bismarck, AR 71929 or the Cherry Street Mission Ministries, 105 17th Street, Toledo, OH 43604.
