Steven Riffle

Steven C. Riffle, age 72, of Lambertville, MI passed away peacefully at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio on Saturday, October 9, 2021. He was born in Zanesville, OH on June 22, 1949, the son of Carl and Myrtle (Blosser) Riffle.

Steven graduated from Bedford High School in 1967 and was a GLL wrestling champion. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. On February 21, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Zaborowski. In February, 2020 they celebrated 50 years of marriage surrounded by family and friends.

His favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing with his wife and family any chance that he could, watching the Detroit Lions, relaxing at home, and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye.

Steven was a man who lived a simple life and was always humble and kind to everyone he encountered. Young children were always drawn to his infectious smile, youthful spirit, and his general love of life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Jennifer (Rob) Green, Maggie Riffle; grandchildren, Zackery Douge, Brenna Douge, Ty Gildersleeve, Alex Green; brothers, Frank (Carol) Riffle, Lonnie (Teresa) Riffle, Mike (late Kathy) Riffle, Terry (late Ann) Riffle, and brother-in-law, Bill (Terese) Wingate; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marsha Wingate and a brother, Gilbert “”Gib”” Riffle.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where Military Honors will be conducted by the Lambertville VFW #9656 at 7:00 p.m.
