Tommy Glenn Hearst, age 67, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015, one day prior to his 68th birthday. At the time of his passing, Tommy was resting comfortably in Hospice care at Aspen Grove Assisted Living Facility in Lambertville, MI. Born September 29, 1947 in Steele, Missouri, Tommy was the third born of Eulas and Wanda (James) Hearst’s five sons. As a young child Tommy moved with his family to Erie, MI.
Tommy served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star.
He worked for the UA Local 50, where he was a Journeyman Pipefitter. Tommy worked at the Local until he retired due to disabilities following his first stroke. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Redwings, Lions, and Michigan State Spartans on television, or listening to their games in the garage or breezeway of his home. Tommy also loved classic vehicles and his Red 1979 Ford Ranger. In the latter years of his life, Tommy found happiness and companionship at the Faith Chapel Church of God in Temperance.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond, Gerald, and Bruce. He is survived by his younger brother, Steven (Marilyn) and his two sons, Jonathan and Michael; sister-in-law, Connie; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave, Temperance, MI, on Thursday, October 1, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor, Betty Jean Marlow of Faith Chapel Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Erie Union Cemetery, Erie, Michigan with Military Honors Conducted by Lambertville VFW Post #9656.
