Velda Swift

Velda Swift, 94 years, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 in Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center in Angola, IN where she had lived the last few years. The daughter of William and Gladys (Clark) Elliott she was born March 15, 1932 in Erie, MI.

A graduate of Bedford High School, Velda married Lee Swift on June 7, 1952 in Erie United Methodist Church where she had been a longtime member. He preceded her in death December 2, 1998. She had worked for 40 years at The DeVilbiss Company.

Velda loved square dancing, traveling, and was active in the local 4-H for many years.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Sandi Elliott and Anna Mae Bailey; brother-in-law, James Kraus, many nieces, nephews, and 9 Godchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Onalee Kraus; and brothers, Chester, Charlie, and William Elliott.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Erie United Methodist Church – 1100 E. Samaria Rd. – Erie, MI 48133 at 10:30 a.m. where there will be visiting after 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, OH.

Arrangements were entrusted to Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI.
