Vincent Paul DiPofi, Sr., 84, passed away at his home on June 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. Vince will be welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Angelo and Santina DiPofi; his sister, Josephine DiPofi; and his son, David DiPofi. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Claire DiPofi; children, Vincent DiPofi, Jr. (Sandra), Matthew DiPofi (Becki), Kathleen Shelton (Clay), and Jodi Grzybowski (Thomas); and sisters, Mary Lou Buchele and Frances Latendresse (Frank). Vince is also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vince was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 11, 1932. Growing up in East Toledo, he graduated from Waite High School in 1950 and then served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic. He worked for the Toledo Police Department for 28 years, receiving numerous accommodations and attaining the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1986. During that time he also went to night school on the GI bill and obtained his Associates Degree in Humanities from the University of Toledo. Upon retirement, he started Macroquest Private Investigation and worked with many prominent lawyers in the Toledo area. He was well-regarded for his attention to detail and his customized stake-out van. A man of many talents, he was a Golden Gloves boxer, a gifted artist and guitar player, and received numerous speaking awards as a long time member and Past-President of the Anthony Wayne Toastmasters Club. In 1994 he moved to Temperance, MI where he was an active member at Mt. Caramel church and was active in the Temperance civic community.
Vince was a true Italian who enjoyed good food, large family events, house renovation projects, and freely sharing his opinion on current events. His conversation and companionship will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the
Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass
will be celebrated Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church,
Temperance where he will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with
